How can an island camp not have fresh daily seafood?

I learned the hard way to ask the ?s from last year's trip to poverty camp in Panama.

The place has a lot of potential but is poorly run. The transfers weren't bad, just long. But the place was dirty and the food sucked. The only fresh seafood was what we caught or bought. How can an island camp not have fresh daily seafood?

The water was shut off for a few days.

The owner totally misrepresented the place and totally overcharged for what was provided.

I used to travel alot to 3rd world places and not averse to those conditions, but the owner totally misrepresented the place and totally overcharged for what was provided.

Remember El Salvador 20 years ago, the mentality of the locals who provided rooms and meals? Well, it was about the same, i.e., 10 feet from the dining area was the garbage pile, and the dining area was infested with ants, the biting kind, not to mention the "road dogs" who would be doing it next to the dining table as we ate, or the chickens shitting in the kitchen and pecking at the fruit, but at least they would cut away that part before it was served, and no safety equipment on the boats, not even a radio, so if someone got hurt at the further breaks there would be an hour ride to the camp to get to the phone and some Band-Aids).

We did have a "revolt" when we learned that they wanted to serve us hotdogs,Panamanian hotdogs.

I wouldn't have complained if the owner had accurately described his place and tried to treat us as if he appreciated our business.

We still had a great time, waves were pretty good but not nearly as good or consistent as El Salvador and not "world class."

Anyway, the rest of our group are probably cringing as they read this figuring that I'm too much of a whiner and that you will forever be boo ked when we want to come, but I'm only responding to your inquiry so a Silver Beach Salute to my amigos.

Seriously, I wouldn't have complained if the owner had accurately described his place, and tried to treat us as if he appreciated our business.
