The Maldives were amazing. Island after island, with a perfect left and perfect right on either side of each channel between islands. What sucked was being stuck at a resort with over 50 other surfers, not to mention at least a hundred more on the other islands and living on boats. There was so much good surf that it wouldn't have been too bad, except that the resort I was at only had two boats, which only went to two spots, twice a day, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 and from 2:00 PM to 5:00. Which meant that I'd wind up on a boat with 15 or 20 other guys with a maximum of about 5 hours total actual surfing time per day. The resorts were run by locals who just didn't get it, and really didn't care since they were making a ton of money. So it was a bit of a drag to fly half way around the world to surf fairly crowded surf. Still had great time but it could have / should have been much better.
